Reserva de la Familia was first released in 1995 to mark the 200th anniversary of Jose Cuervo’s original tequila license, the world’s first Extra Añejo tequila, hand-selected from agave harvested at seven to twelve years old and aged a minimum of three years in a combination of American and French oak, with reserve tequilas up to 30 years old blended in to hold the house style. Only around 17,000 bottles are produced each year, each hand-numbered, dated and wax-sealed, packaged in a box the Cuervo family commissions a different Mexican artist to design annually. It remains the flagship expression of Jose Cuervo, the world’s best-selling tequila brand.
