Sur Feni
Sur Feni is a Goan feni made in the traditional way, cashew apples crushed for their juice, fermented naturally, then double-distilled in the small-batch process that’s been used across Goa for generations. Feni carries a Geographical Indication tag as a speciality alcoholic beverage of the state, a craft that predates most of India’s modern spirits industry, with sharp, fruity, pungent notes that come through directly from the cashew apple. Purists drink it neat, in small sips, to experience its full, unfiltered character; the more common way to enjoy it, especially for a first try, is over ice with a splash of lemon-lime soda and a wedge of lime.
