Malaika Cashew Feni
Malaika describes itself as a handcrafted, heritage spirit of Goa, copper-pot distilled using traditional methods by a homegrown Goan producer. It’s part of a newer wave of small-batch feni brands built around the same age-old process: cashew apples are crushed and fermented, then double-distilled in copper stills, the way feni has been made in Goa for generations. Cashew feni carries a Geographical Indication tag as a speciality alcoholic beverage of Goa, recognising a craft that predates most of India’s modern spirits industry. Traditionalists drink it neat to feel its full strength and character; the more common way to enjoy it is with a splash of lemon-lime soda and a wedge of lime, which softens the intensity while keeping the cashew character front and centre.
