Soprasasso Amarone della Valpolicella comes from MGM Mondo del Vino, a Veneto wine group founded in 1991 and now part of the Argea Group, made from the traditional Amarone blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Molinara grapes. Like every genuine Amarone, it’s built using the appassimento method: hand-picked grapes are dried for roughly 100 days before pressing, concentrating their sugars and flavour into a rich, full-bodied dry red bottled at 15% ABV. Italians describe wines in this style as “vini da meditazione,” meditation wines meant to be savoured slowly on their own as much as with food.
