Dewar’s 15 Year Old, “The Monarch,” was created by master blender Stephanie Macleod and introduced in 2010, initially aimed at the Asian travel-retail market before wider release. Its name comes from Sir Edwin Landseer’s 1851 painting “The Monarch of the Glen,” depicting a red deer stag in the Highlands, which John Dewar & Sons bought in 1919 and used in decades of marketing before eventually selling it to the National Museum of Scotland in 2016. Its silky texture owes much to Dewar’s double-ageing process, known within the brand as “marrying.”
