Paul John Bold is the peated expression in the brand’s flagship range, distilled from six-row barley smoked with Islay peat imported from Scotland, twice distilled in copper pot stills and aged six to eight years in first- and second-fill ex-bourbon barrels in Goa’s tropical heat. It’s the boldest of the three flagship expressions alongside the unpeated Brilliance and mildly peated Edited, aimed at showing what a west-coast Scottish peating style becomes when it matures in sub-tropical India instead.

TASTING NOTES
NOSE- After the slightest whiff of smoke, Manuka honey, cinnamon, prickly spice and a bourbon-esque red liquorice take over.
PALATE- Sublimely silky, studded with oak-like honey, sea spray and brine, a hefty wave of spice, then a smoky feel coating dry molasses and peaty soot.
FINISH- Light, with a tinge of copper slowly emerging and a gorgeous smoked mocha shaped by delicate spices.
