Código 1530 Blanco (also listed as “Bianco”) is made from mature 100% Blue Weber agave at Varo Destilería (NOM 1616) in Amatitán, Jalisco, by a brand founded in 2017 by Ron Snyder, Federico “Fede” Vaughan, Betsy Heneghan, and George Strait, in which Pernod Ricard later acquired a majority interest. The agave is cooked, its juice extracted and fermented with local yeast in stainless steel, then distilled twice in pot stills across a roughly 15-day process; unlike Código’s rested and aged expressions, which finish in French oak barrels previously used for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon, the standard Blanco skips barrel time entirely and is bottled clear straight after distillation. Código states its tequila is made from agave, water, and yeast only, with no added colours or sweeteners.
