West Cork Single Malt Whiskey comes from West Cork Distillers, an independent distillery on Ireland’s rugged south coast. Made from 100% malted barley and triple distilled in the Irish tradition, it is matured in first fill bourbon barrels rather than the ex-sherry or peated styles more common further north. The result is a lighter, sweeter whiskey built around vanilla, malt and citrus, suited to drinkers who want an approachable Irish single malt without the smoke or heavy oak of a Scotch equivalent.
CHARACTER
Grapefruit: Mild citrus lift on the nose
Brioche: Bready sweetness alongside the citrus
Vanilla: Runs through nose, palate and finish
Caramel: Rounds out the nose
Honey: Sits with the caramel and vanilla
Malt: Forward on the palate, carries into the finish
TASTING NOTES
NOSE- Mild grapefruit and brioche open over vanilla and sweet spice, with caramel and honey underneath.
PALATE- Malt forward and less sweet than the nose suggests, with vanilla, butterscotch and a thread of citrus running through.
FINISH- Malt and brioche linger with a slight grapefruit tang and sweet spice.
