Glenfiddich 15 YO is a Speyside single malt aged a minimum of 15 years across ex-bourbon barrels, new oak casks and European sherry casks, then mellowed together in Glenfiddich’s Solera Vat, a large oak tun the distillery has kept continuously part-filled since 1998. Whisky moves down a sequential line of casks each year, a method borrowed from the sherry bodegas of Spain and Portugal, so every batch carries a thread of whisky far older than 15 years running through it. The result is a rounder, more consistent house style than a single cask type could give on its own, which is why it’s a reliable choice for someone who wants Speyside sweetness with real depth.
