Ardmore Legacy comes from the Ardmore distillery, founded in 1898 by William Teacher & Sons on the fringes of the Highlands near Kennethmont, built to supply a consistent malt for the family’s Teacher’s blended Scotch; Ardmore remains the only Highland distillery still producing the majority of its whisky in a peated style. Legacy blends roughly 80% peated malt with 20% unpeated Ardlair malt, double matured in American oak ex-bourbon barrels and smaller Quarter Casks, and is bottled at 40% ABV.
