Old Monk Supreme, also labelled Very Old Vatted XXX, is one of the older, better-known expressions in the Old Monk range, built with soft aromas of vanilla and burnt caramel and a hint of Christmas spice. The palate leans heavily into caramel, toffee and brown sugar, the flavour most people associate with Old Monk generally, joined by molasses, cocoa and dark brown sugar, with vanilla bean and warm cinnamon running underneath. It’s the introduction to Old Monk for a lot of first-time rum drinkers in India, built for a straightforward rum and cola or neat over ice, sweet and warming rather than complex, without punishing heat despite the 42.8% ABV.
