Old Monk Amber, sometimes labelled Mellow & Matured, is built from a blend of the classic Old Monk rum with a 20-year-old malt folded in, giving it a smoother texture than the standard bottle. The nose carries caramel, vanilla and oak with hints of dried fruit and spice, opening into a palate of toffee and dark chocolate that runs noticeably smoother than base Old Monk thanks to that older malt in the blend. It’s positioned as a step up for drinkers who already know Old Monk and want more roundness without moving to a different brand entirely, best enjoyed neat or with a splash of water to let the toffee and chocolate open up.
