J & B Rare
J&B Rare comes from Justerini & Brooks, a London wine and spirits merchant whose history runs back to 1749, and the blend itself was built with a lighter, smoother style aimed at the American drinker during Prohibition-era demand. The nose carries drying oak and malt, and the palate brings caramel sweetness with hints of vanilla over that same dry oak character, though it can lean a little rough around the edges rather than polished. It’s a whisky built on history and reputation as much as refinement, well suited to a mixed drink rather than a slow sip neat.
