Indri Agneya is a lightly peated single malt from Piccadily Distilleries in Indri, Haryana, made from indigenous six-row Indian barley that’s gently kilned over peat smoke rather than heavily smoked in the Islay style. It’s matured across a combination of ex-bourbon and Pedro Ximenez sherry casks, bottled without chill filtration or added colour. The name comes from the Sanskrit for “belonging to fire,” a nod to both the peat and the tropical maturation that shapes it. Buy it for a fruit-and-spice-forward Indian single malt where the peat plays a supporting role rather than the lead.
