Heineken traces back to 1864, when a young Gerard Adriaan Heineken bought and renamed Amsterdam’s De Hooiberg brewery, in operation since 1592. The pale lager that carries his name has since become one of the world’s most recognised beers, brewed at 5% ABV and known for its green bottle and red star. It was the first imported beer sold in the United States after Prohibition ended in 1933, and remains one of the most widely distributed beers globally. Serve well chilled.
