Glenmorangie was founded in 1843 by William Matheson on the banks of the Dornoch Firth in the Highlands, home to the tallest stills in Scotland, a design that lets only the lightest vapours through and gives the spirit its signature delicacy. The Original 10 Year Old is matured in first- and second-fill American white oak ex-bourbon casks, including the brand’s own slow-grown, air-dried “designer casks” sourced from Missouri, and every drop of water used comes from the distillery’s own Tarlogie Spring. It remains the best-selling single malt in Scotland and the wider UK, and serves as the base for Glenmorangie’s Extra Matured range.
