The Dalmore 18 Year Old is a Highland single malt matured first in American white oak ex-bourbon casks, then finished in casks that previously held 30 year old Matusalem Oloroso sherry from González Byass. That sherry finish is what gives Dalmore’s whiskies their characteristic dark, chocolatey richness, and the 18 year old is where that house style is fully developed. It’s a step up for someone who has tried Dalmore’s younger expressions and wants more depth without moving to the brand’s rarer, older releases.
