Bowmore 12 YO comes from the oldest legal distillery on Islay, founded in 1779 on the shore of Loch Indaal. It is matured in a mix of ex-bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, giving a profile built on heather honey, lemon and Bowmore’s trademark soft peat smoke rather than the harder, more medicinal peat found in some other Islay malts. It suits anyone moving from a lighter Highland or Speyside malt into peated whisky for the first time.
