Black Dog Centenary Black Reserve traces to 1883, first blended in Scotland by James MacKinlay for Sir Walter Millard, a Scotsman with the British East India Company who named the whisky after his favourite salmon-fishing fly. The Black Reserve expression itself launched in New Delhi in September 2006 as “Black Dog Centenary,” marking the brand’s 100th anniversary, before United Spirits renamed it Black Reserve as the range’s naming was streamlined; this listing still carries the original Centenary name. It’s an eight-year blend of malt and grain Scotch matured in a combination of American oak and European sherry oak barrels.
