Cazu-re Cashew Feni
Cazu-re is a Goan cashew feni made in the traditional way: cashew apples are crushed for their juice, left to ferment naturally, then double-distilled, the same process used across Goa’s small feni distilleries for generations. Cashew feni carries a Geographical Indication tag as a speciality alcoholic beverage of Goa, a recognition of a craft that predates most of India’s modern spirits industry, with distinct pungent, fruity notes that come through from the cashew apple itself. It’s traditionally drunk neat by purists who want the full, unfiltered character of the spirit, though most people new to feni find it easier with a splash of lemon-lime soda and a wedge of lime, which tempers the intensity without masking the cashew character underneath.
