Big Boss Coconut
Big Boss, launched in 1979 by Valentino Vaz, was the first branded feni in Goa, made by Rhea Distilleries and today one of the most recognised feni names in the state, featured as the reference bottle on Feni’s own Wikipedia page. This Coconut expression honours the older of Goa’s two feni traditions: coconut feni predates the cashew version by centuries, distilled from fermented coconut toddy long before the Portuguese introduced cashew trees to Goa in the 1500s. Coconut feni tends to be lighter and more delicate than cashew feni. Traditionalists drink Big Boss neat; it also works well over ice or with a splash of lemon-lime soda and lime.
