1800 Añejo is made from 100% Blue Weber agave picked at its peak, 8 to 12 years old, and matured primarily in French oak with some American oak, aged from just over a year up to three years depending on the barrel. That extended, mostly-French-oak aging sets it apart from the brand’s Reposado, which rests only about two months, giving the Añejo a deeper caramel, dried fruit and warm spice complexity positioned as a genuine sipping tequila rather than a cocktail base. 1800 takes its name from 1800, the year tequila is said to have first been aged in wood barrels.
