Desmondji 100% Agave
DesmondJi launched India’s first agave-based spirit in April 2011, in Goa, founded by Desmond Nazareth, an IIT Madras alumnus who set out to make his own tequila after finding it difficult and expensive to source in India. He traced agave growing wild on the Deccan Plateau back to a plant he remembered from childhood, and founded Agave India, a craft distillery, to build a spirit from it using Indian know-how and raw materials. This 100% Agave expression is made from semi-wild agave naturalised on the Deccan Plateau, distilled at Agave India’s micro-distillery in the Chittoor district (present-day Annamayya district), Andhra Pradesh, bottled at 40% ABV.
