Aberlour 12yrs is a Speyside single malt from a distillery founded in 1879 at the confluence of the Lour Burn and the River Spey. It is double cask matured in traditional oak and sherry casks, layering red apple and honey sweetness over chocolate and warm spice from the sherry wood. It is a good middle ground for someone who wants more sherried depth than an easy-drinking Speyside malt without moving to something heavily sherried.
