Fandango is made from 100% Espadin agave harvested in Santiago Matatlan, Oaxaca, sometimes referred to as the world capital of mezcal. Unlike tequila’s steam-oven cooking, the harvested agave piñas are pit roasted in an underground earthen oven, a traditional mezcal step that is the source of the spirit’s smoky character, before the mash is double distilled in copper stills. It is bottled unaged (joven/silver classification) at 40% ABV. The brand is produced by Mezcal District, a label of Cartagena Inc., a subsidiary of the Mexico based group Licorera del Sur.
