Xenta Absenta is an Italian absinthe from Piedmont, in the foothills of the Alps, built around a recipe of roughly ten herbs and spices macerated and distilled in high-strength alcohol. Wormwood is the defining ingredient: its Artemisia absinthium is grown at 2,000 metres in the Alpine north of Italy and picked at the top of the plant just before flowering, joined by green anise, cinnamon, clove, cardamom and bergamot peel. Bottled at 70% ABV, it keeps faith with the 19th-century absinthe tradition while being built for both the classic sugar-and-water ritual and modern cocktail use.
CHARACTER
Star Anise: green anise leads the nose alongside fennel
Cinnamon: warms the herbal blend
Clove: an aromatic spice note through the middle
Cardamom: rounds out the spice profile
TASTING NOTES
NOSE- Vibrant anise and fennel, layered with aromatic herbs and the bitter edge of wormwood.
PALATE- Rich and dense, balancing the sweetness of anise against the sharpness of the alcohol and the herbal bitterness of wormwood.
FINISH- Long and lingering, with a memorable echo of alpine herbs and subtly spiced citrus.
