The Lovers is a golden rum blend, the sixth release (VI) in an ongoing series that pairs rums from different origins rather than sticking to one distillery. The nose brings toffee, muscovado sugar and toasted pineapple alongside pencil shavings and a dusting of cinnamon, developing into a palate of peppercorn spice, more cinnamon, passion fruit and zesty citrus over a base of toasted oak. It closes sweet, with vanilla carrying the finish alongside the fruit. It’s built for neat sipping first, where the layered fruit and spice have room to unfold, though it also makes a genuinely interesting Daiquiri for anyone who wants more going on than a standard white or gold rum offers.
